On October 28, 2015 Detectives of the Ashland Police Division developed leads on a suspect in the shooting that occurred on Saturday October 24, 2015, at the Peking Restaurant. Information was gathered that the person of interest was possibly targeting persons in the Asian population of Ashland as well as local Chinese restaurants. It was also learned that the suspect had recently acquired two handguns.
Steps were taken to alert members of the Asian Community both locally and at Ashland University. When the suspect was seen leaving his residence, members of the Ashland Police Uniformed Patrol Division performed a felony car stop and arrested Seph Valentine, 32 of Ashland and Tammy Lunsford, 54 of Perrysville. The investigation continues and charges are pending.
Asian students at Ashland University were advised by AU's International Student Services to remain in safety, according to the Collegian. However, the Collegian also reports that the suspect was apprehended at approximately 1:30 pm.
